Meditate with your Cat!
Written
by Dr.Laxmi Iyer
You
think that's tough. Meditating alone is bad enough.
Half the time your thoughts are galloping away while
you struggle hard to get them to vaporise so your
mind can be still.
Wouldn't
having a cat keeping you company be awfully distracting?
In the beginning, yes! But after a time, you and your
cat learn to adjust and adapt to one another's auras,
energies and minds.

It's a little difficult but can be learnt.
How do you go about doing your meditation stuff ? In the
beginning, you could use a tape. Many meditation tapes are
available.
Choose a comfortable, quiet corner of your
home. Make sure that you switch off your mobile phone and
keep the telephone off the hook. Tell all your family people
that you are not to be disturbed for at least one hour.
If there's a second person in your family
who is interested allow them to join in with you but only
if they are serious. That's because meditation is serious
fun! That should be tried only by those seriously interested
in spirituality.
Ideally, it would be nice if your entire
family will meditate with you but if they are not serious
about it, then there's absolutely no sense in coaxing them
to follow you.
They will spontaneously join you once they
see the positive effects on your health and temperament.
To get people to follow you, you need to be a doer. Lead
from the front. Lead by doing.
The best times to meditate are early morning
- just before sunrise or after sunrise - after you have
your bath.
Sit or lie down in a comfortable posture.
Let your cat sit in a similar place on a mat next to you.
Don't talk. When you have to talk to your
cat, whisper. It works wonderfully.
Follow the same routine everyday. Watch
yourself and your cat after two months. Both of you will
experience an inner transformation.
You, as a human being will be privileged
to articulate your personal growth.
