Painless
ways to handle your cat's pain
Written by Dr.Laxmi Iyer
Pain!
is painful. Yes...but the drugs that are normally used to
treat pain can cause a whole lot disturbing side effects.
If not
given as a careful dose, painkillers can kill. It is a sad
observation of life that allopathic drugs even today do
not have a side effect free pain killer.
When
your vet tells you that he or she is giving an injection
or a syrup to reduce pain, always be on guard.
That
little teaspoon that promises to remove the pain can bring
in the stomach bleeding and blood vomits and even kidney
failure. Be on your guard.
Cats
are more vulnerable to the adverse effects of pain killers.
Remember, pain is the body’s internal messaging system
shouting out to take care.
It’s
actually a call to pay careful attention to. However, since
you cannot read your pet’s mind, it is very difficult
to diagnose the severity of pain that your pet is experiencing.

It’s
common sense to remember that many herbal medications
like pepper and sweet Basil that help in viral
fevers also promote a general sense of well being…and
to some extent reduce the pain.
Depending
on the cause of the pain, there are different
things that you can do where pain can be to a
significant extent reduced though may not totally
be reduced.
