Depending upon the wood that you have, you can add some natural streaks and give it a beautiful play of light and dark shades with a little bit of dark and light shades of furniture polish or even some dark shade of paint or even ink or coal.

While working with wood, always try to make sure that you work with the flow of the natural pattern of the grain.

Depending upon how it looks, your natural looking work of art jointly conceived and crafted by you and your pet can either be framed or left alone as an interesting work of art.
