Creative
Games that you can play with your cats and dogs
Introduction
So!
What kind of games do you play with your pet cat and
dog? Is it the usual kind of games like playing with
wool, catching the ball and such other stuff or have
you tried out playing some new games?
Well,
whether you like playing games with your pet or not,
it is time that you did play some physically active
games with your pets.
Six
good reasons why you need to play games with your pets:
1.
Terrific circulation toner
 |
Games
help to tone up your pet's circulation. When your
pet has to run and jump and exert himself or herself,
the blood circulation to the different tissues
is greatly improved. Enhanced circulation always
means that you are soon going to have a sleeker,
trimmer, healthier pet.
|
2.
Effective weight reducer
If
your pet is overweight and likes to binge on food, then
one way you can help your pet get over those flab spots
is by giving your pet ample exercise. Games help to
do that.
3.
Montony Reducer
 |
Simply
making your pet go for a walk is a rather monotonous
way to stay fit. Playing a game stimulates your
pet's brain to think and apply his or her mind
to solve a problem.
|
4.
Enhanced Creative Driver
Therefore, besides being good food for the body, games
also help to enhance your pet's intelligence and creative
aspirations and expressions.
5.
Great mood elevator and stress buster
 |
A
pet used to a regular session of games twice or
thrice a week or everyday is less likely to have
behaviour problems. Games are a great mood elevator.
If you play a game everyday with your pet, that
means your pet is going to be feeling really high,
positive and perky. Just try it out and you'll
see what we mean.
|
6. Terrific skill developer
 |
If
you want your pet to develop some kind of skill
which may be either developing a nose for detection
if your pet happens to be a dog, or getting an
eye for texture if your pet happens to be a cat,
you can do that by playing some very imaginative
games.

Six
creative game ideas for you to explore with your pets
1.Design
your own pet friendly table tennis game
 |
The
first step that you need to follow to design this
game is check out your pet 's height. Then you
need to design a small table that's not too big
nor too high for your pet to place his or her
paws comfortably on.
The
next step is to then teach your pet the rudiments
of the game. The exception here is that you would
not need a net as in a conventional table tennis
table. In fact, your pet may be more comfortable
without it.
|
Now,
you need to gradually teach your pet to tap the ball
as you tap it off your table tennis bat. You will be
surprised how quickly your pet will learn and how deftly
the returns will be made. Cats may be especially fond
of this game.
2.Carrom
- Pet Special Way
In this game, what you will need is a small board which
it would be preferable if it is shaped hexagonally.
The boards need to have diagonal grooves and little
nets at the six apices.
The
game can be played with a maximum of six players, probably
two pets and four humans. Each person plays the game
by throwing the ball randomly in the hexagonal board.
The person who has the maximum number pieces that fall
in the same pocket wins the game. If your pet wins the
game, you must always remember to praise your pet and
reward him or her with a food treat.
3.Hide
and Seek
This game may be played in a similar manner that children
play the game, except that you need to show your pet
how to hide. Hide and Seek can be made in to a very
interesting and invigorating game for both the pets
and children in your home. You can involve the elders
of the house too in this game. A good place to play
the game is in the garden where there are lots of bushes.
A lot of surprise packages thrown in different hiding
places can add an element of delight to the game.
4.Basket
Ball
Basket ball once again needs to be designed keeping
in mind your pet's height and build. If your pet is
a really small cat or dog, then you can build a very
tiny court and get a very small basket net and ball
for your pet to catch and throw the ball in to. However,
it is preferable to restrict this game to the really
large breeds of dogs because it can become rather strenuous.
This
game should not be played more than once a week as it
can be quite exhausting. The ball too should be specially
designed to be very, very light. What is light for a
human child may be still very heavy for a dog. Therefore,
great care should be taken while playing this game.
5.Treasure
Hunt
This is a game that your pet dogs will simply love.
What you need to do is to take some really tasty, morsels
of food. Wrap them well and make sure that none of the
food items that you choose spoil over a few hours. You
need to make the preparation for the game a few hours
before you play it.
For
this game, the more the number of pet dogs the merrier
the game becomes. However, make sure that the dogs number
not more than four or five as if there are too many
pet dogs around, there may be a real jam and of course
a proper brawl if even one treasure is unearthed.
You
can choose about ten spots in your garden to bury some
really tempting food. Hide them well. Now, let the dogs
run loose all over the garden. They will have the time
of their lives, just trying to be the first to uncover
the buried treasure. To make the game more interesting,
you can also bury some wrapped paper with no food. However,
rub some grease from the food so that the tempting smell
is retained in the package. That can really mislead
your pet.
6.
Blind man's buff
For your pet to play this game, you need to use a small
scarf or some soft cloth to cover your pet's eyes. The
game is played when the scarf covers your pet's eyes
completely and everyone who is playing the game goes
and hides. Then, your pet needs to identify where you
are hiding.
Everyone
can take turns in putting on the scarf and hiding. It
may be preferable to use a separate set of scarves for
your pets and for the children who are playing the game.
Conclusion
Games represent a useful form of communication, entertainment
and physically stimulating activity for pets and should
be regularly played to help them stay physically and
mentally healthy and alert.
