Introduction
Precious to India, this ubiquitious plant looks
more like a wayside weed. That's what most people
would think if they were to see this plant and are
unlettered about it. No great flowers, no great seeds
or leaves, the plants looks more like a miniature
shrub that nature overlooked while painting the lovely
canvas of life. The plant has a rather undistinguished
name, being called Phyllanthus fraternus.

Medicinal properties
Yet, this undistinguished weedy looking plant has some remarkable
properties. The plant holds claim to posterity, fame and
terrific effficay with the eye popping findings of a researcher
spending sleepless nights pondering on its medicinal properties.
Phyllanthus fraternus has been found to be very useful in
the treatment of liver disorders especially viral hepatitis.
The scientist has been recognised and rewarded by the world
with the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Today, Phyllanthus fraternus
is a recognised and accepted treatment for viral hepatitis.
The medicinally active compounds isolated from the plant
are phyllanthine and hypophyllanthine.
The plant which is strong and hardy grows in a wide variety
of climatic conditions and diverse soil types. The popular
Hindi name for this plant is Bhui amla. The plant can be
found growing wild all over the Indian countryside.
You can use Phyllanthus fraternus to heal your pet in the
following conditions: For the treatment of viral hepatitis
As an appetite stimulant
To reduce swelling or edema due to its diuretic properties
As a liver tonic for your pets
The water extract of 100 grams of the whole plant (root,
stem, flowers and fruits) should be given once daily to
your pets if they are suffering from clinical signs of jaundice
due to any cause and especially viral hepatitis.
Appetite stimulant for your pet
It improves appetite. Improvement may be seen in a week's
time and should be continued for at least about 2 weeks.
The leaves are very bitter. Therefore, before feeding your
pet the juice of the plant it is preferable to add honey
or jaggery.
Storing the preparation
To make a water extract of the full plant. Add sugar and
boil till sugar dissolves. The sugar may be added at a proportion
of 400 grams of sugar for 500 ml of water. Filter and store
in the refrigerator. It is better to make a fresh preparation
just prior to use.
