Make
a whisker toner for your cats
Written by Dr.Laxmi Iyer
What's a whisker toner?
Well, have you noticed that many times your
cats just don't get to use the entire breadth of their whiskers
in the way they'd like to.
Feeling with the whiskers - pieces of plastic
toys, furry soft toys, distempered walls, polished, veneered
furniture, dry-cleaned carpets, fabrics and upholstery come
nowhere close to feeling the elements of air, earth, trees
and plants that really make up your cat's natural environment.
Whisker toners are especially useful if
your cats are cooped up indoors all the time.
Material
1. 14 boxes (the length and breadth of the box should be
exactly equal to the distance between the furthest tip of
your cat’s whiskers – measured end to end)
2. Sand
3. Mud of different kinds - red, clay, loam
4. Wheat grass
5. Tomato, pumpkin and cucumber seeds
6. Dried flowers
7. Dried leaves
8. Pieces of bark
9. Fresh and dried grass
Method
1. In 7 of the boxes, place mixtures of sand, mud, dried
flowers, pieces of fresh and dried grass, dried leaves,
tomato, pumpkin and cucumber seeds.
2. In the remaining 7 boxes or pots, sow some wheat grass
seeds.
3. Now, place all the boxes close to your cat’s playing
spaces.
4. Make separate whisker toners for each of your cats. You
can give each one of them a unique identity by pasting a
few strands of your cat’s own fur on the rim of the
boxes.
5. Let the fragrance of the earth lift your cat’s
spirits.
6. If by chance, your cats feel like nibbling some grass,
wheat grass makes for that perfect appetizer and energizer.
