Who is Gracie?
|
Gracie
is a Mallard duck who was found tortured in a Manhattan
park recently near Gracie Mansion, close to the ASPCA's
East 92nd street headquarters. The duck was found
by a passer by with three nails driven through her
head and beak. The ASPCA ( American Society for Prevention
of Animals) is offering a $ 5000/- reward for anyone
who can help catch the elusive fugitives responsible
for the criminal offense.

The ASPCA's humane law enforcement department is investigating
the case. Madeline Ogust, the lady who rescued the duck
brought her to the ASPCA's Bergh Memorial Hospital where
the nails were removed. Fortunately for Gracie, the two
nails behind Gracie's eyes were inserted far enough from
the brain so as not to cause permanent damage. According
to Michael Krinsley, the veterinarian who has helped in
Gracie's recovery, the bird will pull through although she
may not be able to endure a tough life in the wild or even
in the zoo, for that matter.
