kill 200 dogs after girl mauled to death

in a village in Madhya Pradesh killed 200 stray
dogs in two days after a pack of dogs mauled a
seven-year-old girl to death.

According
to reports received here, Kaafreen was killed Friday by
some stray dogs in Parasia village of Chhindwara district
while returning home after finishing work as a domestic
help.
She was living with her widowed mother Jameela, who also
worked as domestic help.
Police
said an unsuspecting Jameela recognised her daughter's
body from the tattered clothes lying nearby when she went
over to see a half-eaten body that some villagers had
recovered after driving the pack away.
Shocked
members of the village council decided to kill all stray
dogs at an emergency meeting and went into action with
the concurrence of the sub-divisional magistrate.
"We
have killed over 200 stray dogs of the village in the
last two days. We will continue till all dogs have been
eliminated from our village," said village chief
Dhandoo Prasad.
He
said groups of villagers armed with sticks, rods, kerosene
oil and ropes start hunting for dogs in the village from
morning.
