Australian Mist

The Australian mist is a beautiful breed. With large green eyes, a short glossy coat and a muscular body, the cats look sturdy and strong.

The breed has been so called because of the mist effect produced on the coat caused due to random ticking in the solid colour of the coat. The Australian Mist comes in a variety of coat colours and patterns.

The Spotted Pattern - Spots of any shape and size and shape over sides, flanks and belly and elongated spots or banding on the legs are considered permissible.

Marbled Pattern - Here, the distinguishing feature is a spotted belly with the coat having a marble look with the pattern moving in a horizontal direction. The vertical striped mackerel pattern is considered undesirable.

Brown - Dark brown markings against a warm old ivory ground while the nose leather is brick red with a clear brown outline and brown foot pads.

Blue - Bluish-grey markings contrast with an oatmeal background. The nose leather has a faded old rose colour while the paw pads are blue.

Chocolate - Chocolate markings against a warm creamy-fawn ground. Nose leather is pinkish-orange with chocolate coloured paw pads.

Lilac - The coat has dove grey markings with a warm delicate mushroom colouring in the background. The nose leather is pale pink outlined in dove grey while the paw pads are dusky pink.

Caramel (Blue, Lilac and Fawn based) - The coat colours vary from bluish-fawn to honey brown markings with a lilac coloured nose leather and dusky pink paw pads.

Gold - Gold markings on the coat with pinkish-orange nose leather and pink paw pads are defining features.

Peach - The coat has pinkish-fawn markings set against shades. Both nose leather and paw pads are shades of pink. Breed disqualifications include a shallow, long or flat skull, pinched muzzle, upright or small ears and fine bones or poor muscle tone.

Other traits that are a disqualification include whippy or kinked tail, small or round eyes, woolly or sleek coat, white toes, blue, amber, gold or orange eyes and a pattern on the flanks.
