Pet Peeves! With all the crawly critters!
Introduction
Teach your pet to leave all the crawly critters all alone
by devising some interesting and imaginative ones.
Spider Catch
 |
This
game would be one that cats may become especially
fond of. What you need to have is a large stuffed
spider. You can make this yourself or may be buy one
from the soft toy shop in your neighbourhood. Make
sure that your soft toy is really washable because
it's going to get dirty and would need to be washed
so that it can reused for playing them games.
|
|
To play this game with your cats, what you would need is lots
and lots of loose string. Now, take each long, loose string
and attach it to the body of your spider. You must have at
least twelve to fourteen such loose strings. Using the other
end of the string, you can hook your spider up to the ceiling.
You must make sure that your toy spider is suspended from
a height that is neither too high nor too low for your cat
to reach.
On the back of your toy spider, may be you can place a tempting
morsel of food as a positive reward or treat for playing the
game successfully. The game has been successfully played when
your cat can successfully disentangle all the strings from
their hooks and the toy spider falls with the little packet
of food.
Tick Fall
 |
To
make this game you need to make a soft toy tick with
little rubber pads on all its legs. You also need
a glass surface. What you can do is to attach the
tick to a glass surface. On the underbody of the tick,
you must hide a small packet of food. This game would
be liked by both dogs and cats. The tick could be
kept attached to the glass wall. All you need to do
is to leave your pet close to the glass wall.
|
Your pet is going to be kept occupied for hours on end.
This is because the tick has eight legs. As soon as your
pet has succeeded in freeing one leg, the other leg will
get stuck. Therefore, it is a pretty complex process.
However, there's a trick that your pet will learn to master
with time and that is to toss each of the legs, once they
are removed from the glass surface on to the back of the
tick or to a side. This may take some time for your pet
to master.
Soldier Ant Ring
For your pet to play this game what you would need is to
make a series of small soft toy ants at least a dozen or
so. They should then be connected to each other by a single
connecting elastic coil with metallic links connecting one
to the other.
These ants should be relatively big, about one half or two
thirds the size of your pet. You can now keep some food
treat in the centre of the ant ring. You must make the chinks
or links in the ant ring in such a manner that it can be
broken only if at least two of the ants on diametrically
opposite sides of the ring fall down.
The game is successfully played by your pet if your pet
can successfully throw off at least two of the ants down.
Butterfly Chase
 |
To
play this game, you will need to make a lot of butterflies
from a material that can stand a lot of tooth and
claw effort. The butterflies need to be large, almost
as big as your pet and very, very light so that they
can fly. This game is best played in the garden.
|
Bumble bee kite
 |
To
play this game, you would need to make a bumble bee
kite to which you could attach a small plastic bag
containing honey, if your pet is fond of honey. If
not, any other food treat should be fine.
|
Then, you can start flying the kite at a level that is just
a few heads higher than your pet's height. Every now and then,
you can let your kite fall to the ground just long enough
to let your pet sniff the kite. This is an interesting game
that can keep your pet engrossed in chasing kites for hours.
Conclusion
Games such as the ones described here can help to keep your
pet alert, active and healthy.
