A new Alpha virus isolated.
Travassos
et al from the Arbovirus Laboratory, Chagas Institute, Brazil
have reported the occurrence of a Trocara virus, a newly
recognized member of the genus Alphavirus. The virus which
has been isolated from Aedes serratus mosquitoes was collected
at two widely separated sites in the Amazon Basin. It appears
that Trocara virus is the first member of a newly discovered
antigenic complex within the family Togaviridae genus Alphavirus.
