China imports pure bred dogs from the west as breakfast food!

If you think dogs are your best friend, ask your Chinese and Korean friends what dogs mean to them. You may get a rather, eye popping and shocking reply! In China, dogs are fast becoming breakfast delicacies. Dog burgers and dog wafers may soon be in, if the world does not wake up and do something about it. To top it, it's not just dogs in China which are being eaten, but China has recently started importing the western, big breed dogs like Saint Bernards, Great Danes, Newfoundlands and Tibetan Mastiffs.

The dogs may soon be found on the lunch and dinner tables of a significant population of Chinese homes if something is not done, rather quickly to prevent it. And eating dog meat may soon become a culturally and politically acceptable fashion that may be even spread to the west, bottled up as ancient wisdom from the far east!

The different and diverse ways in which the dogs are killed are evidence of an elevated new level of barbarism and savagery in the brave new industrialized world. In Korea, as in China, dogs are regularly killed for meat. The process includes cutting holes in their paws and letting them bleed to death, breaking of legs the night before slaughter and of course, the live skinning so the coats…and these are just some of a few methods.

A global Petition to save the dogs started by Mrs. Elly Maynard, President of Phoenix Animal Trust New Zealand has had 4 million people signing in to register their protest. The petition is to be presented to the United Nations in November.
Those who are interested in actively getting involved in the campaign and would like to protest about it may participate in the signature campaign or write in to conectus@enternet.co.nz or log on to the website at http://www.interportail.net/SosStBernardDogs
