Dog
saves owner from jaws of death
There
have been stories and stories of animals rushing out there
in a crisis and doing their best to go out and save a drowning
human, barking out an alarm, dragging people to the spot
of crime and so and so forth.
However,
the incident that recently happened in Sweden may be the
very first one of its kind in animal saviours.
Birk,
a Norwegian elkhound actually pulled his owner Goran Ryman
from the clutches of a bear's strong jaws. That requires
a very high degree of bravery. Birk exhibited a degree of
devotion and love that surpassed his own fear of dying.
The
dramatic events that led to Birk's act of bravery are as
follows: Goran, 49 decides to venture out to hunt elk in
a wild forest region of central Sweden. Goran takes trusted
friend Brik along for company. As the two of them walk along
the forest trail, Goran is suddenly attacked viciously by
a bear. As soon as bear spots Goran, it makes a bee line
for him. Bear grabs Goran's thigh and arm and just rips
out pieces.
Then,
bear goes for a frontal attack on his Goran's head. Goran's
head is in bear's jaws ready to be crushed. Bits of Goran's
skull have begin to be crushed by the bear's powerful teeth.
Birk swings into action. Birk bites bear's leg. Bear's attention
gets diverted. Bear forgets Goran giving him time to escape
while Birk runs away as fast as his legs can carry him off.
Goran
survived a close encounter of the grizzly kind only because
of his faithful friend Birk...who after his act of bravery
was away in hiding for a long time...before he surfaced.
