25
million year Kangaroo Lion Found!
|
In
the recent past, the world has been watching stunned
and astonished as fossils of giant birds, legged sea
cows, giant sized hyaenas and dinosaur fossils are
being dug out from ancient mountain rocks, hidden
rocks and caves and brought back to life
at least
on the celluloid screen. The latest and most amazing
discovery in this chain of events has been the remains
of the kangaroo lion. Amazing creatures! They were
giant lions equipped by nature with little pockets
to carry baby lions.

We
don't know if at some point in time, the baby lions got
really heavy for their mothers to carry all over the place
in a pocket, .especially during their hunts. Anyway, nature
decided that those designs for animals were really obsolete
and kangaroo lions went out of fashion, so to say in nature's
scheme of things. Now, all that remains to tell the tale,
so to say, are the fossils of these magnificent creatures.
The kangaroo lions skulls discovered are really huge! As
big as the size of the skull of a small dog. The age of
the skull has been estimated to be about 25 million years.
Discovered by Benita Chambers, in northwest Queensland,
this fascinating discovery puts Giant lion kangaroos a species
to dream and wonder about. These amazing creatures are believed
to have died out about 50 000 years ago. Scientists predict
that their closest relatives were the koalas and wombats,
although these lions are believed to have the appearance
of a tiger.
